2005-2006 CMC - BM Executive Team

President - Ann Warrender
Ann Warrender joined the CMC board of directors in 2005. Prior to volunteering with CMC Ann had been on the board of the Vancouver Women's Musical Society, serving two years as president. Ann feels that both groups have similar goals in that our purpose is to foster and support the talented young musicians we have in the province of BC.

Ann has a M. Ed degree from UBC, specializing in Early Childhood Education and School Administration. During her career in education Ann worked as a teacher, educational consultant, vice principal and principal at the elementary school level. She strongly supports the importance of music programs in schools and recognizes that the early years of schooling should include music as an invaluable component at every grade level.

As president of CMCBC, Ann feels fortunate to have an opportunity to work with a dedicated board. She urges others to become involved and participate in the decision making and administrative activities of our local branch of CMC National.

Treasurer - Alasdair Maughan
Born and raised here in Vancouver, Alasdair has long been a participant in the local music scene: as a student, teacher, advocate and volunteer with different organizations. For almost nine years he has been teaching all levels of piano and music theory, both privately and with a music school in Richmond, BC. Most recently, he has focused on developing materials for upper-level theory courses. This is Alasdair’s seventh year with CMC BC and fourth year as Treasurer on the Board of Directors. Prior to that, Alasdair was a committed competition volunteer.

Aside from music, Alasdair is educated in social psychology, international law and business management. His interests include snowboarding, nature photography and languages – just don’t embarrass him by speaking to him in French or Cantonese.

Secretary - Mimi Ho

Director at Large - Wilma W. Suen
Dr. Wilma W. Suen is a business cconsultant, working in the technology and aviation industries, and recently published a book on partnerships between firms. Wilma was a student of the late Jean Lyons, and was the first Vancouver representative for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music when they returned to Canada.
