Dear 2005
CMC participants and/or teachers,
As some of you may know by now, Miss Jean
Lyons passed away in a tragic accident on
December 21, 2005.
We are all so saddened to hear of her sudden
passing. It was through Miss Lyons's vision
and energy that CMC was established in BC
back in the 1970s. Miss Lyons brought the
original CMC competitions from Quebec to the
West Coast, as she recognized the opportunity
they provided for music students. Since that
time, Miss Lyons has been a motivating force
behind the success of CMCBC and we owe her
a great debt of gratitude.
Miss Lyons's memorial service will be on
Tuesday, January 10th at 10:30am, at Christ
Church Cathedral, 690 Burrard Street (Burrard
& Georgia, Downtown Vancouver). There will
be a reception immediately after the service.
Please send your memories, thoughts, stories
of Miss Lyons by Sunday, January 8th to wilma@strategicalliance.ca.
They will be collected and displayed on memory
boards at the memorial service. I hope that
you will be able to attend the memorial in
remembrance of Miss Lyons. Thank you, Stephanie
