Review
of Showcase Concerts 2004 - December 5th,
2004
The Showcase
Concerts saw fantastic performances by our
2004 CMC National Finalists from British Columbia.
We held two concerts at the Music Hall of
Tom Lee Music in downtown Vancouver, and all
the performers displayed their great musical
talent. CMCBC awarded each a commemorative
medallion for their achievements.
With encore presentations of their dazzling
artistry, we hope that the audience would
be inspired and in awe of the levels of professionalism
and musicianship that our BC musicians have
attained at their young age. Traditionally,
British Columbia has always been strongly
represented in the National Finals of the
nation-wide CMC. This year was no exception
– a total of 25 BC candidates were invited
to the 2004 National Finals in Toronto, Ontario.
There, 14 of them were placed in the national
top 3 of their instrument and age category.
CMCBC proudly organizes the Showcase Concerts
to celebrate their talents and to congratulate
them on their achievements. Our BC winners
have competed against their peers from across
the country and their results confirm what
we have always known – they are the top raising
stars of classical music and they are among
the best musicians in Canada.
We are grateful for the scholarships generously
donated by Mrs. Patricia Hoebig and Mrs. Nancy
Fraser. Congratulations to our 2004 scholarship
winners: Gloria Huh, Devin Lee, Jonathan Lo,
and Andrew Wang.
Thank you for all the volunteers and Board
members who helped out.
